Salaam Foundation team returned to Nquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal this week to support a community outreach and food distribution programme aimed at providing relief to vulnerable families in the Hlathi Dam area.
The initiative was carried out in partnership with local community organisation Al-Tibyaan ISIKHANYISO, which invited Salaam Foundation to collaborate on the outreach. Essential grocery hampers were distributed to 150 families identified as being among those most in need within the community.
Nquthu remains one of the underserved areas in KwaZulu-Natal, with many households facing significant socio-economic challenges, including unemployment, poverty and food insecurity. For families experiencing these hardships, access to basic groceries can provide meaningful and immediate relief.
The distribution was conducted in an orderly, transparent and dignified manner, with the joint team managing the planning, logistics and beneficiary identification. The focus remained on ensuring that assistance reached those most in need while preserving the dignity of every recipient.
