Palestine Response – Gaza Kitchen
Since March 2024, Salaam Foundation has been running a kitchen in the north of Gaza, providing much needed relief in the form of meals to the people existing in that area. The Gaza Kitchen has been serving thousands of people daily through the efforts of local volunteers as well as the continued support of Salaam Foundation and its donors. The kitchen has since evolved into a delivery service with meals being delivered to families who cannot come to the kitchen.
The “kitchen,” which was setup in March 2024, is located outside in the open away from harm’s way and potentially unsafe buildings. It is basically a space on the streets where makeshift stoves have been set up using firewood and huge grills where massive pots are used to prepare the food. The “kitchen” moves around depending on the safety conditions.
The #GazaKitchen project forms part of Salaam Foundation’s Palestine Response which has been ongoing since the beginning of the genocide in October 2023, with the aim of assisting those suffering from the brutalities of the genocide.
In April 2025, Salaam Foundation managed to fulfil a very special request which had taken a couple of months to complete. Despite the Israeli genocide, despite the bombs falling on homes and buildings and innocence being massacred by the Israeli war machine, the children in Gaza continue to learn and go to local sheltered areas to receive lessons in Quran and Islam. The team on the ground requested a supply of Islamic apparel, so that these kids can attend their lessons in the best way possible.
As a result of 75 years of occupation by the Zionist state of Israel, Palestinian armed groups launched large scale attacks from the Gaza Strip on 7 October 2023.
In response, Israel has sealed off the Gaza Strip, cut the electricity, water and food supply, and activated an aerial attack using advanced fighter jets, pummeling and destroying entire neighbourhoods in the coastal sliver.
The indiscriminate attacks have killed a huge amount of Palestinians including innocent, men, women, children and the elderly. It has become a grotesque case of collective punishment with some analysts calling it an unfolding genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Visuals from Gaza show the the region looking as if a massive earthquake has hit.
International agencies are warning of a humanitarian catastrophe .
Salaam Foundation has initiated our humanitarian emergency response plan to help provide basic food, hygiene and bedding material to the innocent who are currently suffering in this devastating situation and will continue to suffer for the foreseeable future.
