On April 29, Salaam Foundation visited Bloemhof and distributed essential food aid to people as well as pet food to animals whose homes were overrun by the recent floods.
Huge amounts of water was released from the Bloemhof Dam resulting in the downstream Vaal River bursting its banks.
A request from the community was made for food parcels and toiletries as many have lost all their possessions.
The residents’ pets were not forgotten with pet food being delivered for dogs, cats and birds.
