On March 18 2025, the ceasefire between Hamas and the illegal Israeli state ended. The ceasefire had come into effect on January 19 2025. Even during the ceasefire, Gaza was still in a state of emergency with much of the infrastructure being destroyed including water and electricity infrastructure. The United Nations has estimated that it will cost $53bn to reconstruct Gaza, and a UNDP report released in 2023 said it could take until at least 2040.
Throughout this entire period, Salaam Foundation has continued to support its partner teams on the ground through the Gaza Kitchen. The Gaza Kitchen which started in March 2024 as part of Salaam Foundation’s Palestine Response has been providing much needed relief in the form of meals to the people existing in that area. The Gaza Kitchen has been serving thousands of people daily through the efforts of local volunteers as well as the continued support of Salaam Foundation and its donors.
@salaam_foundationIn the midst of the gruesome bombings and savagery, learning still continues in Gaza. A request sent to Salaam Foundation for clothing for the children in Gaza to be used as uniforms for children in their make-shift shelters of learning has been fulfilled. Their eyes speak of the deep betrayal these children have seen from the world that looks on. In April 2025, Salaam Foundation managed to fulfil a very special request which had taken a couple of months to complete. Despite the Israeli genocide, despite the bombs falling on homes and buildings and innocence being massacred by the Israeli war machine, the children in Gaza continue to learn and go to local sheltered areas to receive lessons in Quran and Islam. The team on the ground requested a supply of Islamic apparel, so that these kids can attend their lessons in the best way possible. This delivery was completed with the continuous support of the Salaam Foundation donors.
The “kitchen” has to move locations several times during the bombings to ensure the safety of all involved. Just before Ramadan 2025, food parcels were given to families and hot meals were delivered to displaced families.
Gaza needs our collective strength more than ever to stand up against this horrendous occupation.
Gaza will never give up on life.
