The Salaam Foundation team is currently travelling in Turkey and Syria to assess the needs on the ground.
The first stop on the trip was Madrassah Rashedeen Child Nurturing Centre in Sanliurfa, Turkey. Salaam Foundation’s Azhar Vadi said the Syrian children who come to the madrassah are in need of support for their education and Islamic upbringing. The madrassah caters for around 400 learners. However, there are around 16000 children in the area showing the needs are immense.
In Turkey, work continues on education and emergency relief programmes
In 2024, the team started the project of supporting the madrassah in the Turkish city of Sanliurfa. The madrassah provides Islamic education and nurturing to approximately 400 students everyday – both girls and boys. The students come from the Syrian refugee community as well as from local Turkish families. Throughout the year, the students attend the madrassah to receive Islamic education taught by well-established Ulama. For the children who have been facing many years of uncertainty and difficulties as a result of being displaced through war, the madrassah provides a safe space where they can learn Islamic education and the importance of Islam which they can share with their families at home.
Syrian children need your support. Help us teach these children and provide a foundation for them to become responsible global citizens.
