During last two weeks, Salaam Foundation visited the Limpopo and Free State provinces as part of the #GazaKitchen educational programme.
August 30 was a jam-packed programme with Salaam Foundation’s director, Azhar Vadi visiting two schools, two masjids and delivering a ladies programme to end off the day.
The day before, the team checked in at Mokopane with a double programme as well.
The Gaza Kitchen is a part of Salaam Foundation’s Palestine Response, an open air kitchen that has been operating in the north of Gaza for the past six months. The kitchen has resulted in the feeding of 20 000 families monthly and requires a lot of support in order to continue allowing the kitchen to run.
Over the last weekend – during the first weekend of September – talks were also delivered in Welkom and at the University of the Free State during the Friday prayer. The Bloemfontein Muslim Women’s Forum also hosted a ladies get together in the city, while the men attended a programme at the newly established Langenhoven Park Musallah.
Salaam Foundation’s #GazaKitchen: “We Live, We Resist”
Salaam Foundation has always been appreciative of the warm welcome received from various communities and extends gratitude to the communities of Mokopane, Polokwane, Welkom and Bloemfontein.
Vadi said “We hope Allah (SWT) blesses us all with sincerity and allows this charitable act aimed at alleviating the hunger plight that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are experiencing to be used as a means for their ultimate freedom and end to oppression.”
