Salaam Foundation is making moves out of Gauteng. Having operated for the last eight years as a Gauteng-based NGO, Salaam Foundation established its first provincial wing, in Bloemfontein, Free State during the month of July, 2024.

By Fatima Moosa

Since Salaam Foundation’s establishment in 2016, they have worked around the country and world, providing humanitarian and development assistance for communities most in need. However, the development of the organisation’s first provincial wing in the Free State marks a huge accomplishment for the organisation as it grows organically, year by year.

The team is excited for this development which represents a growth point. It provides an opportunity for a hands-on approach to the Free State province which is an oft-overlooked region of the country where there is a lot of work to be done and a lack of adequate governmental support.

Communities in the Free State face many issues with one of the main issues in the region being a lack of access to adequate, clean, running water. However, there are many other issues facing the province which we hope to respond to in the Salaam Foundation way after consultations with community members to provide adequate solutions.

The new wing of Salaam Foundation will be operating out of Bloemfontein and will be headed up by Hafiz Muhammad Vadi, who has been appointed as our provincial representative.

Vadi is a resident of Bloemfontein and a third year Agricultural Science student. He is also the ameer of the Salaam Foundation Search & Rescue Team (SFSR), another one of our projects which was launched in December 2023. The SFSR team is a group of young men who will be deployed at the time of need to extreme rescue operations as well as the general humanitarian work of Salaam Foundation when the time arises.

Salaam Foundation is looking forward to being of service to the vulnerable and underprivileged in the Free State region and beyond as we continue to grow the organisation. More importantly, we hope to serve the province with the same sincerity and dedication that has marked all the work we have done over the past eight years.

Muhammad Vadi is contactable on 068 425 9396.
